There are many ways to be a loving hand extended to this hurting and needy generation. Bringing Christ to our community and to the world starts here at home. We have an open food pantry for individuals and families who need help keeping up with the needs of their families. We also have a monthly community event at which individuals may have free healthy screening done by a licensed, local, and private health care agency. Each family and individual is sent home with a gift of groceries supplied by donations from a local food store as well as the National Capital Area Food Bank. Each year in December, we open our doors to feed and clothe over 150 families at our special Christmas event. Donations of toys, bicycles, blankets and more help make this event a blessing both to the recipients and to the givers.
Along with feeding families who visit us, we take food to two local feeding centers for the underprivileged. Donations of flowers are also distributed to local senior residences.
Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, “Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?” And the King will answer and say to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”
Matthew 25:37-40 NKJV
